INTRODUCCIÓN

The productive skills of speaking and writing always present a challenge for teachers. In these sessions we will take a new look at each of these skills, and how we can teach them. We will look at traditional and new ways of organising lessons and activities for each skill and how, in fact, it may be that some activities can be used for either skill. Think about how much we are all writing now (emails, social media, whatsapp) and how that writing is becoming more and more like speaking. Are we looking at a fifth skill?
These sessions will have lots and lots of practical tips and activities for teachers to take away and use immediately in their classes.

• to examine features of spoken and written English and how some of these features are crossing over
• to look at a range of activities for practising spoken and written English, from accuracy-based to fluency-based activities

• to explore tools and techniques that draw on new technologies to help teach speaking and writing to secondary students
